چکیده

Campus wireless LANs (WLANs) are complex systems with hundreds of access points (APs) and thousands of users. To analyze the performance of wireless networking protocols, researchers need to construct simulations and testbed experiments that reproduce the characteristics of these networks. However, the generation of realistic models and benchmarks is challenging and there is only a limited set of models of roaming and access based on real measurement data. The main contribution of this paper is the modeling of the roaming activity. Specifically, we employed graph theory, modelled the roaming activity as a graph and measured its properties (e.g., diameter, degree of connectivity, connected components). For example, the negative binomial distribution models well the degree of connectivity. Furthermore, we analyzed the evolution of the roaming activity in the spatial and temporal domain and its impact on the properties of the graph.

LPKP: location-based probabilistic key pre-distribution scheme for large-scale wireless sensor networks using graph coloring

Communication security of wireless sensor networks is achieved using cryptographic keys assigned to the nodes. Due to resource constraints in such networks, random key pre-distribution schemes are of high interest. Although in most of these schemes no location information is considered, there are scenarios that location information can be obtained by nodes after their deployment. In this paper,...

CAPWAP Status and Design Considerations for Seamless Roaming Support

Wireless LAN technologies have picked up momentum in the recent years due to their ease of deployment, cost and availability. The era of wireless LAN has also given rise to unique applications like VOIP, IPTV and unified messaging. However, these real-time applications are very sensitive to network and handoff latencies. To successfully support these applications, seamless roaming during the mo...

Target Tracking Based on Virtual Grid in Wireless Sensor Networks

One of the most important and typical application of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is target tracking. Although target tracking, can provide benefits for large-scale WSNs and organize them into clusters but tracking a moving target in cluster-based WSNs suffers a boundary problem. The main goal of this paper was to introduce an efficient and novel mobility management protocol namely Target Tr...

UML-Based Modeling of Roaming with Bluetooth Devices

Bluetooth is a standard for wireless personal area networks. The current standard does not support roaming between different bluetooth networks. In this paper, we will introduce potential roaming techniques for data transfer scenarios using Bluetooth hardware devices and present a corresponding UML model.
